Gravity inside our minds

Who writes this blog?

Greetings! My name is Christine Córdula Dantas, and perhaps you already know me from my previous blogs,

(I also keep a blog in Portuguese, for Brazilian mathematics students at the fundamental level, Matemática Replay!).

I have a PhD in Astrophysics from INPE, and currently work at the Materials Division of IAE/DCTA, Brazil. My major papers can be freely accessed at the ArXiV. A complete CV can be accessed here (in Portuguese, Lattes online system).

What is this blog about?

It is dedicated to studies directly related to Gravity, at the classical and quantum realms, mainly:

  • General Relativity
  • Cosmology
  • Quantum Gravity
  • Mach’s Principle
  • Mathematics related to Gravity
  • Extensions to previous theories and new theories
  • Numerical Gravity (General Relativity, N-Body problem, etc.)

Will I be able to understand its contents?

The degree of  difficulty will vary from basic to research level. I will approximately classify posts according to the level of exposition and tag them appropriately:

  • Basic tag: Interested laymen, beginning students.
  • Intemediate tag: Undergraduate level.
  • Advanced tag: Graduate/Research level.

However, that classification should only serve as a guide. If you are interested in a post, try to read it anyway and make your own judgement. Also, it may happen that I tag a post with “Basic” simply because there are no equations or the matter was not explored in detail, so it can be read by anyone, but it does not mean the concepts are easy or basic by themselves.

Courses

Some posts will follow a logical order and will be of pedagogical nature. They could form a kind of “course” line. They will be collected in the “Courses” page, which can be accessed at the side bar.

Notation

I will adopt in this blog the same notation and sign convention, unless otherwise stated. See the “Notation” page at the side bar.

References

I will always provide linked references within posts, and a list can be consulted in the “References” link at the side bar. That list is very incomplete for now, but I will be adding more and more references with time.

Theorems

Useful results/theorems will be added to the “Theorems” page at the side bar.

What if I find a mistake or do not agree with you?

I will try my best to be pedagogic and to post short expositions with clarity, but these will evidently reflect my current undertanding, and I will possibly committ mistakes. For that reason, I will be very happy to receive corrections and comments. Just be polite, of course.

Will you post on other stuff?

Maybe yes, eventually.

May I copy your posts?

Unless otherwise expressly stated, all original material of whatever nature created by Christine Córdula Dantas and included in this weblog and any related pages, including the weblog’s archives, is licensed under a Creative Commons License.

May I post comments on my own theories?

No. Don’t try. And do not add links to your blogs or homepages. Any such posts will be deleted.

How frequently will you update your blog?

For the moment, I can’t even tell if this project will advance as expected. Updates will very much depend on my available time and energy.
